VALERO TEXAS OPEN OVERVIEW:
Established in 1922, the Valero Texas Open (VTO) is one of 36 events that make up the world’s leading professional golf circuit, the PGA TOUR. Raising money for charity is a central focus of the PGA TOUR and the VTO is consistently the top charitable fundraiser on the PGA TOUR, with donations of $24 million in 2024 and donations of over $256 million since inception.
Each year, the VTO attracts 156 of the top PGA TOUR professionals, tens of thousands of spectators, millions of television viewers, and a list of blue-chip sponsors to TPC San Antonio and the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. This year, the Valero Texas Open took place between April 1 and April 7, 2024.
The Valero Texas Open is seeking a summer intern to assist the Finance & Accounting team with completing 2024 post-tournament tasks as well as planning for the 2025 Valero Texas Open.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist & support the Finance & Accounting Manager and Coordinator with tasks including, but not limited to:
• Assist with month-end close responsibilities including preparation of journal entries and supporting reports out of the SAP system and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
• Prepare vendor documents to set up new vendors and payment support documents to pay vendor invoices
• Obtain and organize supporting documentation for the fiscal year end audit and the income tax return
• Prepare detailed calculations in Excel to determine the charitable contribution amount for each sponsor
• Assist with preparation of year-end financial disclosure reports for the PGA TOUR
• Pull together payment documentation to provide to the State of Texas in order to fulfill Event Trust Fund program requirements
• Create a preliminary budget in Excel for the 2025 Valero Texas Open
• Perform office administrative tasks as needed
The internship also includes the opportunity to work collaboratively with other Valero Texas Open departments such as Operations, Sales, Client Services, and Volunteer Services on other tournament related events and projects.

• Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to commute to the main office.
• Be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
