The organization is expanding outside of Amerant Bank Arena via the renovation of the FTL War Memorial/Baptist Health IcePlex in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This state-of-the-art ice facility will feature two regulation-size rinks, including a team practice rink with stadium seating, the Panthers’ new practice facilities spanning over 33,000 sq.ft. of offices and off-ice training facilities, and a 4,000-capacity music theatre for live entertainment. Job Summary:
The Skating Manager is responsible for the overall direction and management of the War Memorial/Baptist Health IcePlex Skating Department. This includes the hiring, training, and management of the staff for this department. In addition, this individual will be responsible for the overall program scheduling and development of the skating department. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, and expert knowledge of the current industry standards with the national governing body, US Figure Skating. The individual must be able to communicate effectively with customers, team members and management.

Job Functions:

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Input and manage all Learn to Skate, freestyle and other skating programming in the DaySmart point of sale (POS) system
Ensure timely payment by all contractors and customers, and manage the accounts receivable report
Grow and retain enrollments in the Learn to Skate-USA (LTS), US Figure Skating Aspire and other programs offered within the Skating Department
Be an active liaison with the Panthers Figure Skating Club for their events, test sessions, and competitions
Communicate with and educate customers regarding programming, skating progression, and other related areas
Must be present for Learn to Skate classes to handle any questions or concerns from coaches and parents
Recruitment of a skilled coaching staff
Verify and collect contracts and certifications for all independent contractors
Supervise and manage department staff including but not limited to; scheduling, payroll approval, disciplinary write-ups, and setting professional goals
Create and develop additional programming, including but not limited to; ice shows, competitions, and summer camp opportunities
Respond to all emails and phone calls in a timely manner
Establish and maintain standards of learning consistent with national benchmark
Create annual operating budget in conjunction with the War Memorial management team
Additional duties as assigned

Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications

Strong skating skills
Working knowledge of ice skating levels and paths of development
Prior experience working with a point of sale/database system, DaySmart experience preferred
Experience managing employees and/or independent contractors
Good organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills with all stakeholders, including customers, staff, and vendors

Qualifications:
SkateSafe Certification
US Ice Rinks Skating Director Course
US Figure Skating CER Courses
PSA Group and/or Program Director Registered Rating

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a Full-Time position. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including late nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Environment

This position works in a professional ice hockey practice facility, where the noise level is generally high, crowd traffic is heavy, and temperatures are often cold; lights are bright or dark with occasional exposure to flashing lights
