Position Summary
As a mascot handler and on-call performer for KSE properties, you will be considered a world-class performer and ambassador for our sports properties at public appearances and potentially some home games. You will also act as the primary handler for the full-time mascot performer at every home game.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Assist the full-time mascot performer in preparing for games and other events.
- Be the main point of contact for the full-time performer at all home games and many outside events.
- Assist in creating new entertainment and build upon past successes for use at performances, including skits/dances/stunts, pre-recorded videos, in-arena interaction and improvisation, and off-site event entertainment in collaboration with the Director of Game Presentation.
- Perform as the back-up mascot at outside events, and potentially perform at some home games.
- Adhere to and protect the mascot’s brand within the guidelines of the organization.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of all mascot assets including costumes, outfits, props, vehicle, and other items used by the mascot.
- Learn from and adapt to the mannerisms and actions of the current mascot, so the transition is seamless.
Performance Requirements/Skills
- Availability and willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, some holidays and be on-call as necessary.
- Passion for mascots and performance entertainment is a must
- Ability to excite, motivate, and entertain a crowd – having a great sense of humor is a must.
- Ability to relate and respond to various personalities and actions and an excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
- Must exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Must possess extraordinary level of creativity, energy, and spontaneity, and have the passion to constantly build and present new and creative ideas.
- Must be of good moral character and can represent the organization in a professional and appropriate manner at all times.
- Must be in peak physical condition and able to maintain this fitness to both fit in the costume and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and proactive, yet also be able to be a strong team player and work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to tolerate moderate to very loud noise.
- Ability to pass a company background investigation
- Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards
Education/Experience
- At least 1 year of mascot experience, collegiate or professional, preferred.
- Dance experience and other performance-related skills (tumbling, belaying, cheer stunting, dancing, stilt-walking, etc.).
Compensation
- When acting as handler - $25 per hour; Pre-determined mascot rates apply when in-costume; $50 per hour when a pre-determined rate does not apply.
