The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders seeks a creative, outgoing, and organized team member to join our marketing department. Alongside the marketing team, this individual will work to enhance game day entertainment, production, and will serve as the primary copy writer for external marketing communications, including web content, sales collateral, e-newsletters, and more.
Objectives/Responsibilities:
- Represent the organization as game-day producer, responsible for briefing video and music production crew, venue logistics team, in-game personalities, and game-day staff. Ensure adherence to game-day script, including timing, completion of contracted obligations, and performances.
- Create game day scripts and timing sheets in advance of games, ensuring accuracy and inclusion of necessary sponsored elements.
- Coordinate logistics for on-ice performers, pre-game ceremony participants, ice crew, and cheer team.
- Responsible for overseeing marketing project budgets, booking talent, ordering premium items, and other game related supplies as needed.
- Assist in the creation of a season-long marketing plan that prioritizes revenue growth and the fan experience. Develop an annual timeline breaking down individual campaign goals and objectives.
- Primary staff writer, responsible for drafting and proofing copy used in all external communications.
- Responsible for managing and updating website copy for accuracy, relevance, and organization goals.
- Collaborate with tickets, public relations, and community teams to develop and implement a monthly content calendar and strategy for targeted external communications.
Required skills and qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience in a production, operations, or marketing role within sports, entertainment, or adjacent industry, with a track record of success.
- Ability to make thoughtful and responsible decisions quickly to accommodate unpredictability of live sporting events.
- Exceptional writing skills and ability to adapt style depending on the medium and demographic targeting.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Financial acumen and experience managing project budgets.
- Creative thinker and passion for enhancing the attendee experience.
- Experience using programs including Adobe Creative Suites, Microsoft Office, Rundown Creator, and Constant Contact.
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, marketing, communications, or related field of study.
