Position Summary:

The Temporary- Program & Youth Development Specialist is responsible for representing the LA Galaxy and the soccer community through events and initiatives vital to the success of LA Galaxy Programming Department. The incumbent will assist in managing and executing LA Galaxy Youth & Adult Programs including Galaxy Juniors, Skills Training, leagues and tournaments and assist in creating new opportunities for the LA Galaxy to become the preeminent purveyor of soccer in the Southern California youth landscape.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations for current and future LA Galaxy soccer programming to ensure operational efficiencies at the Kinecta Soccer Center, Galaxy Sports Complex, and Galaxy Park. Current programs include the LA Galaxy Juniors,LA Galaxy Skills Training, leagues and tournaments (youth and adult).
  • Accurately manage, track, and report program registration and budgeting numbers to the department Director in relation to program goals, using the established registration platform and tracking system. Make recommendations to increase sales revenue.
  • Manage onsite operational functions which include but are not limited to acting as the main contact for all inquiries, overseeing the setup and tear down of each event, completing the check-in process, and more.
  • Lead program-specific customer service processes by promoting positive guest relations, making every effort to accommodate any guest’s reasonable request with the highest standards of courtesy, respect, and efficiency.
  • Master current and future LA Galaxy program schedules and programs to successfully communicate, promote and guide program participants through the LA Galaxy Programming Player Pathway.
  • Cultivate program evolution by staying abreast on psychological and physical child development practices and best coaching practices, in order to identify and build program curriculum and resources that create a valuable experience on and off the field for all program participants.
  • Canvas local sport and youth development entities, such as local schools and non-profits, to promote LA Galaxy youth programs and deepen LA Galaxy’s connection to the Southern California community.
  • Co-manage program-specific communication by drafting, sending, and continuously evolving communication processes and layouts.
  • Assist Management in scheduling part-time Youth Coaches and referees as needed.
  • Support Programming department as assigned.
  • Enact a strategic vision, provide continuous feedback and propose business solutions for department platforms and initiatives, including but not limited to, the registration platform, communication processes, and administration processes

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)
  • 4-6 years of sales and event related work experience preferred  
  • Preferred knowledge and awareness of the LA soccer community
  • Preferred experience working with youth or in youth development
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to learn required business systems
  • Strong supporter and advocate for the mission, vision, and core values of the LA Galaxy
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills, with the ability to successfully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented team player who can multi-task and prioritize with strong follow-up skills
  • Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and able to adapt to various environments and situations
  • Able to stand or otherwise remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Able to load/unload merchandise, typically weighing 25 to 35lbs.
  • High ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and events as business dictates
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Pay Scale: $22.49 - $32.80
