As a Groundskeeper you will proactively maintain the field on which our team plays, and on which we host events. Your attention to detail will be critical as we ensure our field meets league and team specifications. You and your teammates will deliver on our mission to always put the guest first and to be the nation’s leading minor league sports organization, providing a clean, safe, fun, and family-friendly venue that allows fans and players alike to enjoy America’s favorite pastime!
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Sr. Director, Field Operations and Manger, Field Operations at Sutter Health Park in all aspects of daily field operations and maintenance for high school, college, and River Cat’s baseball games including but not limited to infield clay work, mound/home plate repair, tarp pulls, raking, use of small machines, batting practice both set-up and breakdown and pre/post-game preparation and repair.
- Assist in all field operation set up and breakdown for concerts, special events, and field transitions for other sports.
- Rake debris from warning track.
- Sweep edges of turf grass to keep free of material.
- Prep/repair mound and home plate following a game.
- Hand water turf as needed.
- Pull tarp as weather dictates.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work within a team and independently.
- Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience:
On-the-job training offered.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, grasping and pulling.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to operate machinery and manage preventative maintenance for all equipment.
- Must be able to work outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions including high heat, sun, rain, and cold weather.
To ensure we are prepared to manage the field we are asking that everyone is available for scheduling to work at least 70% of games and support additional events. Below is a summary of the season so far and where we will need the most support with the field.
- Regular Season Begins – March 29th
- Savannah Bananas Games – May 9th-11th
- Graduations – Weekdays from May 20th-24th and June 11th-14th
- Regular Season Ends – September 22nd
- September and October Field Events
Compensation:
This position is a seasonal, part-time role with a base rate of $16.00 per hour. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. In addition to compensation, employees can enjoy the following perks:
