Summary:
The WTA Marketing department is seeking a strategic and experienced digital marketing professional to lead our Social Media team. As Social Media Director you will be tasked with driving the global advancement of women’s tennis by delivering best-in-class promotion across tournaments, players and the WTA brand. You will play an integral role in growing the global reach of WTA channels and lead strategic initiatives to enhance the visibility and engagement of WTA content across owned and partner platforms.
The role will collaborate across cross-functional teams and implement a social-first POV across the WTA social presence. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience leading global content strategy, an expert knowledge of tennis and experience working with & leading social/content teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the WTA Tour's social media strategy, including day-to-day oversight of WTA content across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok.
- Collaborate across internal departments, including Web, Production, Partnerships, Legal and Creative to produce best-in-class social content.
- Guide content ideation process & framework, aligning to current trends & social-first concepts.
- Build rapport and maintain positive working relationships across corporate partners, players, agents and tournament marketing leads.
- Be the guardian of the WTA's tone of voice across our social media platforms, including monitoring & crisis PR planning.
- Lead content strategy & oversee delivery of all WTA digital rights on social media across our corporate partner roster.
- Define and implement a KPI reporting framework, deliver insights on performance and key learnings to stakeholders and executive level leadership.
- Be an internal champion and advocate for social innovation, educating internal teams & players on rising trends, cyber safety tools and best practices across Athlete Marketing.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7-9 year’s experience developing and leading a social media strategy, ideally in the sport category
- Prior leadership and team management skills, ideally across a global scope
- Experience communicating & reporting to Senior Leadership
Required Skills and Competencies:
- A deep knowledge of - and passion for tennis and the wider sports social industry landscape
- Expert understanding of platforms, social media management tools (Hootsuite/Sprinklr/Sprout)
- Someone who is comfortable to make decisions in high pressure situations.
- Someone who understands the importance of tone of voice and organizational values – but also someone who isn’t afraid to test and learn.

Travel Requirements:
This role will require frequent domestic and international travel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role will manage several full-time direct reports.
Position Type/Work Schedule:
Full Time, 40 hours a week. This role requires frequent evening & weekend work.
