Description: The School of Business at the University of Mount Union. Invites applications for a full-time faculty colleague to lead and teach a COSMA accredited Sport Business program, beginning August 1, 2024.  Rank will be commensurate with qualifications. 
 
Our highly respected Sport Business program is one of Mount Union’s largest, preparing students for careers in sport management, sales, marketing, communication, or finance via applied and experiential learning.  We seek a candidate with significant sport industry experience and interested in stewarding our existing relationships with professional organizations and developing new ones to provide new opportunities for our students. 
 
The School of Business at the University of Mount Union is comprised of undergraduate majors in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources Management, Management, Marketing, Public Relations, and Sport Business.  Undergraduate programs offered in the School of Business are accredited through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). 
 
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will serve as the Director of the Sport Business Program within the School of Business.  Responsibilities of the position include:
  •  Staying abreast of developments in sport business, locally, regionally, nationally and globally and guiding the program accordingly.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with sport organizations.
  •  Developing and managing internships locally, regionally, and nationally, and assisting with student placement. 
  • Managing program budget. 
  • Leading Sport Business faculty in curricular development, delivery and assessment. 
  • Overseeing the functioning of the Sport Business Advisory Board.
  • Assisting with student recruitment and retention initiatives. 
  • Teaching a variety of undergraduate courses (teaching load to be determined)
  • Assisting with COSMA accreditation reporting. 
 
The candidate will be expected to serve as an advisor and mentor for undergraduate majors.  Additionally, the successful candidate will engage in professional development and service activities for the Sport Business program, the University, and the community. 
 
Qualifications: A master’s degree in Sport Management or closely related discipline is required degree and 10 years of relevant professional sport industry experience; a terminal degree may be substituted for 5 years of relevant professional experience.  Teaching experience in the sport business disciplines is desired but not required.  We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. 
 
Compensation:  Competitive, and commensurate with qualifications.  Fringe benefits include a contribution by the University to TIAA/CREF after one year of service; contribution by the University toward hospitalization, major medical, disability, and group life insurance; tuition exchange or tuition benefit for qualified dependents.
