NJ/NY Gotham FC (“Gotham FC” or “the Club”) is a National Women’s Soccer League (“NWSL”) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.
The Role:
Gotham FC is seeking a Director of Content that will report to the Interim Head of Marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the content strategy of the club with the goal of increasing visibility to new and existing markets and fans, execute highly creative material across digital platforms, and collaborate with departments to align and execute the overall social and communication strategy for the club.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Strategy, Channel Planning & Development
- Responsible for implementing and driving the overall content strategy for Gotham FC, including developing and managing the content calendar across all channels and audiences
- Lead the production and execution of compelling one-off social content, content series, and brand campaign content
- Lead strategy, recommendation, and development of expansion into new content channels, including but not limited to YouTube, podcasts, and streaming services
- Work closely with Gotham FC players on content that drives the Gotham FC brand forward and develop an expertise in, on, and off the pitch that drives content that aligns with the players interests
Partnership & Communication
- Work cross-functionally internally to align content strategy with marketing, sales, partnerships, and community goals
- Serve as the external content leader for partners and new channel development
- Maintain knowledge of digital content trends across platforms and serve as key resources for digital content best practices
- Take the lead on implementing content strategy that scales across platforms and drives continuous improvement based on club KPIs and key areas for growth
- Deliver executive and partnership insights and learnings across all content initiatives, including social reporting with consistent weekly readouts
Production & Team Management
- Plan and produce all internal shoots (e.g. partnership shoots, media days) and game days (including away games), strategy, production plans (including staff coverage plans, shot lists, and timelines), budget and resourcing
- Manage content team of three (3) Full Time employees and a roster of freelance contractors (including budget and contract management) responsible for day-to-day content, training content, budget, and game day content
- Plan and book all team resourcing and travel for away and travel opportunities
- Ensure timely development, approval, and sharing of all content deliverables with internal and external teams, including sponsors
Qualifications:
- Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in a similar role
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience leading and inspiring a team of creators
- Knowledge of and experience using various social media platforms and how to optimize their use for the club’s benefit
- Ability to form strong, professional working relationships with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to comfortably stand for extended periods of time
- Legally authorized to work in the United States

Location:
Based at Gotham FC’s business office, which will be located at 15 Exchange Place, Jersey City, New Jersey, on a hybrid working schedule which consists of three core in-office/in-person days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two non-core days (Monday and Friday), with the option of being in the business office or remote. Ability to attend all home games and any mandatory events as well as away games, as necessary. A willingness to travel for other business-related needs, as they arise. Ability to work at the team’s soccer operations office in Whippany, New Jersey, as needed. Gotham FC requires its associates to live in its market, that is, within reasonable commuting distance of Gotham FC’s offices, practice facility and Red Bull Arena.
