Job Title: Director, Facility Operations

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Oversee hiring, training, and management of the Operations department for full-time and part-time staff.
- Manage subordinate manager(s) who oversee employees in various functions including interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Develop, train, and supervise ice personnel including drivers, staff and Operations Managers on the operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, emergency plans and safety management policies.
- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget for the FIC Antioch and FIC Bellevue Operations Department, recommend an annual capital budget for long-range repairs and improvements to the facilities and authorize the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.
- Prepare and negotiate service agreements for the Operations Department, review contracts for compliance with ADA regulations/or government specifications and suitability for occupancy.
- Implement and train Operations Department employees on the operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, emergency plans, energy management plan, and safety management policies that conform to FIC Antioch, FIC Bellevue and meet SS&E standards.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and skill in the practice and procedures related to ice installation, preparation, and maintenance; typical methods and techniques for maintaining, repairing and building ice.
- Plan and prepare work schedules, expedite workflow, and examine work of employees for safety, completeness, and quality.
- Monitor, document and report all occurrences during set-ups including employee accidents or injuries, facility or equipment damage or misuse, and disciplinary problems with full or temporary staff members.
- Conduct monthly building walk-through of FIC Antioch and FIC Bellevue to ensure that all operations equipment is stowed safely and in the correct storage place, maintaining shop, mechanical/electrical rooms, equipment rooms, exterior lighting, sidewalks, parking lots, roofs, and facility exterior.
- Install and maintain an NHL quality ice surface and maintain the ice maintenance equipment and status of the operations department.
- Assist in the repairs of ice resurfacing equipment as required.
- In conjunction with Human Resources, coordinate, track, and collect all documentation for operations trainings such as: fall protection, ladder safety, PPE, forklift, etc., constantly making sure that both new hires and current staff are trained in all appropriate areas in accordance with department policies.
- Assemble and maintain a reference library of plans, specifications, and technical manuals from architects, contractors, and manufacturers.
- Other miscellaneous duties including serving as facility Manager on Duty, attending facility staff and senior management staff meetings, coordinating, and leading monthly operations staff meetings, and serving on other committees as a representative of the operations department.
Minimum Requirements:
- Certified Ice Technician
- Graduate from an accredited college or vocational school with an emphasis in sports administration, industrial engineering, or another related field.
- Minimum of (5) years related experience in public assembly facility management.
- Two (2) years of experience in a similar supervisory or management position.
- Possess basic working knowledge of facilities including HVAC, electrical, lighting, audio visual, and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge and performance of all ice resurfacing equipment in accordance with safety standards implemented within the maintenance certification training.
- Possess strong organizational and communication skills while also using strategic thinking and planning with a proven record of success in facility management.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the practice and procedures related to ice installation, preparation, and maintenance; typical methods and techniques for maintaining, repairing, and building ice.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Proficiency in current computer software (Excel, Word, Access, CAD) required.

- Possess a valid driver’s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by Mid Ice LLC’s insurance carrier (without conditions).
Essential Physical Functions:
- Lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work long and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to respond to visual and audible alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
- Capable of carrying and climbing portable and fixed ladders, accessing remote areas of the facility, and working with hand and power tools, communicating via portable radio, reading and comprehending blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to work with and around water and ice/freezing temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Ability to walk and stand on concrete and uneven surfaces for at least 4 hours per day.
- Ability to bend, kneel and work with arms raised for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb over and into heavy equipment several times per day.
- Occasionally working at heights above 10 feet.
- Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust.
- Ability to pull/push equipment.
- Stamina needed for walking, standing, and being in a crunched position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work on an ice surface.
Equipment Used:
- PC and other general office equipment.
- Various power and hand tools.
- Forklift, Zamboni, scissor lifts, boom lifts, motor vehicle (company truck), and other light duty machinery.
