JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director, Digital Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing digital marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness, drive fan engagement and enhance all ticketing, sponsorship sales and fundraising goals for the Los Angeles Kings. This individual will lead a team of digital marketing professionals and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated marketing campaigns across digital channels. This leader will have a proven track record in the sports industry to help drive opportunities, efficiencies, and creative strategies at the LA Kings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing strategies to achieve organizational objectives, including ticket sales, partner activations, Kings Care, merchandise sales, and fan engagement.
- Lead coach and develop the Digital Marketing department to ensure performance and goals align with company goals.
- Partner with the creative and production departments to strategize and implement the Kings’ video, graphic, and photo distribution in a relevant and timely manner, including helping create a comprehensive plan to drive traffic to lakings.com and lakingsinsider.com.
- Oversee digital development by partnering with the analytics department to understand key metrics, making content, social media, and digital improvements, and determine effective business solutions.
- Maintain a strict adherence and enforcement of LA Kings brand style guidelines while maintaining a consistent look and feel throughout all digital properties Website Development
- Oversee Marketing/Advertising including: managing multi-channel marketing and advertising strategies to enhance ticket sales, sponsorship, hockey development and fundraising annual goals utilizing analysis of appropriate metrics and research to measure the effectiveness of advertising and marketing campaigns, managing all digital media and paid media buying strategies, organizing, leading and maintaining all media flighting and copywriting for advertising campaigns, and managing all marketing budgets, invoicing and budget pacing
- Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making and continuously optimize digital marketing efforts for maximum effectiveness and ROI.
- Manage relationships with external partners, agencies, and vendors to support digital marketing initiatives as needed.
- Serve as main point of contact with the NHL for website developments including the use of internal ad space, such as managing the LA Kings mobile app strategy and developer partnership, maintaining the homepage and overall site structure for LAKings.com and, overseeing all Global Partnerships digital and social activations
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
The Director, Digital Marketing must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); and ability to learn all required business systems
- Strong analytical capability
- Strong knowledge of the LA Kings, NHL, international and local hockey team
- Knowledge of HTML & CSS
- Strong verbal and written communication skill
- Excellent at relationship building and communicating across departments
- Current knowledge of industry trends and a passion to innovate digital and social strategies
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver promptly by strict deadlines
- Exceptional leadership, team building, and mentorship skills
- Available to work a hockey-based schedule: nights, weekends, and holidays
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education:
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) In a related field
Experience:
- 7-10 years related work experience
- 7+ years of related brand or agency digital and social experience
- Experience managing digital and social media teams for a brand or sports team
- Experience with a variety of social media platforms.
- Experience with SEO and SEM practices
- Experience with Adobe CC, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver
- Experience with video editing and motion graphics
Pay Scale: $122,687 - $135,000
