Thank you for your interest in an internship with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. It is our goal to provide you with hands-on experience and knowledge useful in competing for jobs in the baseball industry, beginning with Summer Collegiate Baseball. We will also work with you to fulfill requirements for college credit if necessary. Our internships are a great learning opportunity where previous experience is not always necessary. The Rafters are a part of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league located in the midwest. Each summer the Rafters host 36 games at Historic Witter Field and bring in over 35,000 fans through the gates.
Do you have a passion for culinary arts and providing excellent customer service? Join our Food & Beverage Concessions Internship and get hands-on experience in the exciting world of stadium concessions during the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters games. As a Food & Beverage Concessions Intern, you will play an integral role in ensuring our fans have a delightful dining experience, managing concessions stands, and contributing to the overall game-day atmosphere. This is no lazy summer internship! It is However, Very Rewarding and Very Memorable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concessions Operations: Assist in the day-to-day operations of concessions stands, including setting up, restocking, opening and closing procedures.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to fans, taking orders, processing transactions, and handling inquiries in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of concession items, including snacks, beverages, and stadium specialties.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality, presentation, and temperature of food and beverages meet established standards.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash transactions and reconcile sales at the end of each shift.
- Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring inventory levels, restocking supplies, and conducting inventory counts.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the concessions team and other stadium staff to ensure smooth operations and a positive fan experience in multiple service areas.
- Customer Feedback: Gather and record customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and report any issues to the concessions manager.
- Promotions and Special Events: Assist in implementing special promotions and themed concessions nights to enhance the fan experience.
- This is not an all-inclusive list and you will be assigned additional team duties to ensure a positive fan experience, facilities cleanliness, and everyone’s safety.
Requirements:
- Customer Service Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor to provide outstanding customer service.
- Food Enthusiast: A passion for food and interest in the culinary arts.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with the concessions team and support other stadium departments as needed.
- Health & Safety Awareness: Knowledge of food safety regulations and the ability to maintain a clean and hygienic workspace.
- Cash Handling Experience: Previous experience in cash handling is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Availability: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to cover baseball games and special events.
Educational Background:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Event Management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Duration of Commitment & Compensation:
This is a 3 month (Mid-May through Mid-August) summer internship position. Compensation and academic credit options can be discussed during the interview process.
