Compensation/; $16 per hourPOSITION PURPOSE The on-call bartender (also known as a barkeep, barman, barmaid, or a mixologist) is a person who formulates and serves alcoholic or soft drink beverages behind the bar, in a licensed establishment. Bartenders also usually maintain the supplies and inventory for the bar. A bartender can generally mix classic cocktails such as a Cosmopolitan, Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and Mojito. Bartenders are also responsible for confirming that customers meet the legal drinking age requirements before serving them alcoholic beverages. Bartenders are legally required to refuse more alcohol to drunk customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Come in with a smile every day and maintain a courteous, friendly, professional attitude always.
- Maintain a sanitary work environment.
- Always wear proper uniform and name tag.
- Draw your station’s bank from the money room, verify it, and return it at the end of your shift along with your cash deposit.
- Set up bar for the day. Arrange bottle and glasses to make display. Ensure all bar supplies are stocked in adequate supply for entire day.
- Slice, cut, and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
- Prior to opening inspect bar for cleanliness, neatness, and orderliness. Inspect chairs, floors, and glassware for defects and report any found to a manager.
- Be familiar with your station’s inventory.
- Familiarize yourself with the menus of other bars and food stands so that you can direct customers to the proper location.
- Take food/drink orders from customers/cocktail servers. Ring transactions on cash register in a timely manner recording any returns or mistakes on the back of your supply requisition sheet.
- Collect money for drinks and food served. Adhere to policy and procedures for cash register, check control, and handling cash & credit cards.
- Serve mixed drinks, beers, sodas, etc. in the designated cups with a minimum of waste.
- Control bar inventory following proper pouring procedures.
- Complete and return a product requisition for your station each shift. Understand requisition and stock delivery procedure of orders.
- Ensure all stock is put away in cabinets under & over bar counter. Lock & secure all cabinet doors. Refrigerate all juices, creams, garnishes, & other perishable items in proper containers to minimize waste and spoilage.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience as a bartender
- Must be over 21
- Cash bar experience
- Bartender training and knowledge of drink recipes, portions, etc.
- Understanding of the laws governing the service of alcoholic beverages
- Thorough understanding of basic inventory control and food service sanitation principles
- Able to work with minimum supervision
- Dependable and trustworthy
- Ability to work well with others at all times
- Must be able to read and comprehend guest orders with no assistance.
- Must be able to stand for full shift, walk up and down stairs.
- Must be well-organized and have ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

FINGER DEXTERITY: Requires typing on standard POS system.
TALKING: Ability to speak on phone and face to face.
HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Frequent and regular movements using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
AVERAGE VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to view computer screens and documents.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Medium to heavy work; requiring stooping and exerting up to 25 lbs.
COMMUNICATION AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to interpret instructions.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Ability to perform basic math skills.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Fluency in English, bilingual welcome. Demonstrated excellence in writing and editing.
