SUMMARY: The Associate Athletic Trainer will assist in managing the day-to-day sports medicine operations for the Club.  In this capacity, the Associate Athletic Trainer provides injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation for Players’ medical problems.  The Associate Athletic Trainer works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer, and Club Chief Medical Officer.  The Associate Athletic Trainer will assume the duties of the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer in the event the Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer is unable to or at the discretion of the Director of Sport Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer and/or Club Chief Medical Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
Working in collaboration with the Medical Staff and under the supervision of the CMO:
  1. Manages the healthcare of Players including, but not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development of rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals.
  2. Maintain a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record (EMR) system. 
  3. Order, maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment 
  4. Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized
  5. Help the Club Medical Staff regarding Player’s health and safety
  6. Comply with all MLS medical policies and protocol 
  7. Comply with OSHA Standards with regards to blood borne pathogens 
  8. Attend all activities/meetings/programs as required by the league.
  9. Special projects and assignments as business dictates 
  10. Responsible for the maintenance, creation and control of all personally identifiable information or any other information protected by any Confidentiality or Privacy Standards or Company Policies that you have access or knowledge of, including but not limited to any state or federal regulations including HIPAA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum four (4) year bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred Master’s degree in a health-related field
  • Minimum four years of experience in an elite sports environment, preferably including soccer. Elite level sports experience is working in a high tempo, integrated and interdisciplinary medical support team that includes direct involvement in collegiate, professional, Olympic, tactical (e.g., Special Forces, Service Academies), performance (e.g. Cirque du Soleil, Performing Arts) or equivalent environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to handle or feel 
  • The employee frequently is required to talk or hear 
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, bend at the knees

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
  • The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud. 
  • Will work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 
  • NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer/Therapist 
  • In good standing with NATABOC  
  • State License in the state of Massachusetts
  • CPR certification for Health Care Provider 
  • Maintain personal professional liability insurance 
  • Preferred certification: CSCS, PES, LMT, and/or NREMT, Certified Performance Sport Specialist (CPSS)
