Job Title: Affiliate ESL Teacher - Contractor (1099)
Job Summary: Teach ESL classes to a small group of professional minor league baseball players within the Royals affiliate team during the summer season (Mid May thru September). We have openings in our location for one of our affiliate teams located in Columbia, SC. This role is onsite at our facility, and we require a flexible schedule to accommodate our game times. We hold classes primarily on Monday evenings. Classes will be held during different days from Monday through Saturday. Assigned instructor will work between 4-6 hours per week during home games. For this opportunity, it is a required that our candidate is proficient in speaking Spanish.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Thoughtful planning to deliver dynamic and creative English instruction that is engaging and organized
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
- Follows curriculum and plans provided by ESL coordinator
- Meets with ESL coordinator as needed
- Candidate must be located within the Greater Columbia, SC area
Educational Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, preferably English
- Any of these certifications are preferred: ESL, SEI, ELL, or BILINGUAL ENGLISH SPANISH
- Teaching experience, strong experience in literacy instruction for ELLs
- Experience teaching in a diverse public school or college preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift items weighing as much as 10 pounds
- Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
- Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, classroom, etc.
