Academy Equipment Internship
Position Summary:
D.C. United is seeking applicants for an Academy Equipment Staff Internship Position. The candidate will assist with all aspects of equipment management the D.C. United Academy as directed by the Head Equipment Manager. This position will offer the candidate hands-on experience in a high-level collaborative team-sport environment. The candidate will gain an understanding of the daily workings and the environment in elite sport. The candidate will gain a conceptional understanding of operations, logistics, and managing various components of equipment and operations within an organization. This internship is aimed towards those pursuing a management related degree or aspiring equipment managers looking to gain experience in elite level soccer. The individual must possess a strong desire to learn and grow. This is an unpaid internship.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Assist in locker room maintenance and organization.
·       Help equipment managers with daily laundry from training session or matches.
·       Assist coaching staff with a training field set up.
·       Assist with preparation of new training/match gear, including use of a heat press.
·       Help organize and maintain equipment room.
·       Assist with the equipment needs and preferences of players and coaches.
·       Assist equipment managers with inventory management.
·       Help manage transport, inventory and organizing of all kit and equipment for matches or training.
·       Help with all matchday activities including assisting with warm up’s and in-match/halftime needs of players and technical staff.
·       Other duties as assigned.

·       Background in sport operations at the international, professional, or collegiate level.
·       Relationship-based and understanding and appreciative of the demands of players and staff.
·       Excellent ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks.
·       Enthusiastic and initiative-taking attitude.
·       Forward thinker and contributor of ideas and opinions to tasks in hand.
·       High work ethic, with an ability to work both independently and part of a wider team.
·       Collaborative in nature, with an efficient and effective communication style.
 
Requirements:
·       Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and eligible for college credit. 
·       Available 20-25 hours per week
